Market Review #2
FreshFarm H Street
800 13th St NE
Washington, DC 20002
9am-12:30pm
Every Saturday. January - December
After my first farmers market review, I headed to the FreshFarm H Street location in Washington, DC. Every Saturday, 13th Street transforms into a bustling community gathering place, and from the moment I arrived, it felt less like a farmers market and more like a mini Amish market tucked into the city.
One of the first things I noticed was the number of vendors. Yes, there were a few farmers selling beautiful fruits and vegetables, but the market offered so much more. Local coffee roasters poured fresh cups for early shoppers. Small-batch spirit producers shared their stories. There were vendors selling juices, infused oils, baked goods, and even handcrafted scents. Every few steps felt like discovering something new.
FreshFarm H Street operates year-round, and it showed. Shoppers greeted vendors by name. Vendors remembered regular customers’ orders. There was an energy that felt familiar.
And let’s talk about breakfast.
If you’re the type who can’t shop on an empty stomach, this market has you covered. You can grab a breakfast sandwich, enjoy a fresh omelet made to order, or pick up something warm and delicious before starting your shopping. The smell alone could convince you to stay longer and spend more money.
What I Bought:
Purple Kale ($4.50)
Regular Kale ($4.50)

3 Peaches ($3.50/lb)

My Scores
CategoryScore (1-5)
Produce Quality & Variety - 5 The freshness and variety was impressive.
Meal Prep Potential - 5 Although it would be pricey, I can easily meal prep with the selection.
Price & Value - 5 Shopping fresh and local will always cost more.
Location & Convenience - 3 The location is only convenient to people in the neighborhood. There is not a metro in walking distance. If you go early enough to beat the brunch crowd, parking will be plentiful.
Community & Vibe - 4 The staff was warm. The customers were familiar and the staff was helpful.
Overall Score: 22/25
Would I come back?
